Human Resources is a personnel driven department that assists with nearly every aspect of an employee’s journey within GYPSD. From recruitment to providing onboarding packages to new employees, maintenance of personnel files, assistance in recognition programs, and to retirement transition. Human Resources works closely with the Payroll department to ensure all employee information is concise and accurate.

The Human Resources department is open from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm daily and closed on weekends and holidays.

Employee and Family Assistant Program (EFAP) New Provider as of December 1, 2022 - Inkblot and Information Video
GYPSD’s Employee and Family Assistant Program (EFAP) offers confidential services to our employees and their dependents.
With a network of registered psychologists and Masters-level clinicians across Canada, Inkblot offers you quick and easy access to the mental health supports you need, no matter when or where you need them. And, appointments can be booked in 24-72 hours from when you first reach out.
Inkblot’s highly qualified and responsive staff are trained to assist you in managing depression, anxiety, grief, stress, substance use, eating disorders, and a multitude of other mental-health-related challenges.
GYPSD’s EFAP offers more than just mental health support. Through Inkblot’s WorkLife Advisory Services, you can also access:
- Health consultations: receive advice from a registered nurse or dietitian for things like nutrition support, smoking cessation, etc.
- Legal advice: seek advice for things like real estate law, family law, and more.
- Financial advice: guidance on managing debt, saving for the future, etc.
- Career coaching: get support with making a career change or having difficult discussions with colleagues.
- Life transitions: from becoming a new parent to planning for retirement, your EFAP can help with it all.
Trauma and crisis support services are also available.
Local Authorities Pension Plan (LAPP)
Local Authorities Pension Plan (LAPP) is a defined benefit pension plan, which mean that a member of LAPP will receive a set pension based on the pensionable salary and years of pensionable service, not how much an employee or employer have contributed or the returns on the pension investment.

Alberta Teachers’ Retirement Fund Board (ATRF)
ATRF is an independent corporation established under the Teachers’ Pensions Plan Act, and from its office in Edmonton administers the Plan for all Alberta teachers employed by school jurisdictions and charter schools.
