Student Accident Insurance
While school staff are expected to provide sufficient student supervision at all times to avoid accidents, they do occasionally occur. Accidents may occur at the school site or at an off-site location while on field trips (Ski Hill, Science Centre, etc.). The student may then require dental treatment or medical treatment, including ambulance services as a precaution. The Division carries a student accident insurance policy to cover these costs, regardless if the parent also carry insurance that would cover these costs. Schools may ask parents to complete medical information in order to recover the cost of ambulance or other medical services, that were charged to the Division. Parents who had been directly charged for these services, can file a claim in order to be reimbursed directly.
