Spring VTRA Community Info Session
Posted on:The vision of Grande Yellowhead Public School Division is to prepare each student for a challenging future filled with optimism, hope, dreams and endless opportunities. This vision is not possible without the creation of a safe and caring environment. GYPSD is committed to creating and maintaining
school environments in which students, staff, parents and community members are safe, and feel safe. Part of this commitment is being a proud community member of the West Yellowhead Community Violence Threat Risk Assessment (VTRA) Protocol, along with other community members such as local RCMP and Children Services. The protocol’s vision is for community partners to be engaged and responsive with a shared responsibility to actively take steps to prevent traumatic events in schools and the community.
This spring, GYPSD hosted a virtual information session on The West Yellowhead Community (VTRA) Protocol for parents and other community members to learn more about this valuable resource and support available. Parents play an important role in supporting the protocol and in keeping our
schools safe by advising their child’s school of any information their children may share with them about threatening behaviours they may have been subjected to in or out of school, and monitoring their child’s use of the internet and internet chat lines.
