GNS: Bell Let's Talk January 26

Posted on:

GYPSD schools are committed to supporting the mental health of students and staff. Each year, schools promote Bell Let’s Talk Day - Wednesday, January 26th - an additional source of information and tools to support meaningful progress in mental health. The BEST mental health program at GYPSD and has been promoting Bell Let's Talk Day through their social media pages as well as providing announcement slides to schools and/or bulletin boards to encourage students and staff to think about ways they are supporting their mental health and ways they can support the mental health of those around them. In addition to program information posters and announcements, schools in the Lobstick zone are engaging in classroom conversations and school-wide kindness challenges. In Grande Cache, schools are hosting an information table with Bell Let's Talk Day fortune-tellers and DIY Kindness boxes, and are incorporating Bell Let's Talk Day information into classroom programming. In Edson, schools are offering classroom presentations. Since 2010, Canadians and people around the globe have joined in the world’s largest conversation around mental health on Bell Let’s Talk Day, taking steps to reduce the stigma around mental health issues and inspire one another to take action and help create a Canada where everyone can access the mental health support they need. This year’s Bell Let’s Talk Day campaign highlights the ways that we can support ourselves and those we care about through actions like listening, being there and talking. Every Canadian can play a part in their communities, workplaces, schools, and at home. You can also find resources, learn more about some of the organizations providing meaningful mental health supports and services throughout Canada and download the Bell Let’s Talk toolkit to begin your own conversation about mental health at home or in the workplace.
