GNS: Students Run to Raise Awareness and Funds for Cancer Research

Posted on:

Students across GYPSD took the time to acknowledge Terry Fox's legacy during the annual Terry Fox Run to raise awareness of the young man's story while also raising money for Cancer Research.

In the far west of the Division, Grande Cache students at Sheldon Coates Elementary (Kindergarten to Grade 3) braved the autumn chill and raised $1,569 for the Terry Fox Foundation! Their original goal was $1,000.

Meanwhile, in Edson, hundreds of high school students took part in the event and also shared their reasons for running. Parkland Composite High students raised over $5,000 for this great cause.

In the east end of the Division, Evansview students were challenged that if they could raise $1,500 for the Terry Fox Foundation, someone got to pie Principal Randall...The students raised over $3,200! Two students were drawn to give Mr. Randall one pie each. Way to go Evansview, you made a significant impact on cancer research while having a lot of fun!
