GNS: Wildwood's Culture Day Activities
Posted on:Recently, Ms. Gunderman and Grade 5/6 students from Wildwood School met with Ms. Maxine and her students and the staff at Mother Earth's Children's Charter School - Canada's only Indigenous Charter School. Wildwood and Mother Earth are cultural exchange partners. Ms. Maxine and her school hosted everyone for an Indigenous Culture Day. The students engaged in outdoor archery, learned about traditional foods from the Elders, played Indigenous games, and made crafts. Renowned Canadian Métis author David Bouchard shared his stories and music in the school's tipi. Everyone enjoyed delicious stew and bannock for lunch and saskatoon berry pie for dessert. This was Wildwood's first Cultural Exchange visit of the year and it was a tremendous success! Everyone enjoyed learning and making new friends.
