GNS: Career Planning Part II
Posted on:High school students across GYPSD are choosing courses that set up their successful transition to their next learning adventure while attaining their high school diploma.
Parkland Composite High School (PCHS) met with representatives from fourteen post-secondary's from across Alberta, as part of the ELAA (Educational Liaison Association of Alberta) Fall tour. All PCHS students were given the opportunity to explore different booths showcasing different colleges, universities, technical institutes, the RCMP, and the Canadian Forces to learn about post-Secondary options and programs. The Post-Secondary Fair was also open to the public after school. Students with further questions were encouraged to book an appointment with an Academic Advisor.
Many students were excited about the different options and to start planning for the next step. Ruth, a grade 11 student, said, “I have had my mind set on a few universities my whole life and the Fair opened my mind about other possibilities I might explore. It also generates more serious conversation within my friend group about what we plan to do, which gives us something to strive for and makes approaching graduation seem real.”
