GNS: School Leadership Award

GYPSD is proud to announce that Mr. Glen Allen, Principal of Harry Collinge High School in Hinton, was recently awarded a Council of School Leadership (CSL) Alberta Distinguished Leadership Awards this past June. He was nominated by Principal Ryan Maguhn of Crescent Valley School. Board Chair Dale Karpluk and Superintendent Carolyn Lewis honoured Mr. Allen with a recognition certificate for his achievement at the August 23, 2023, Public Board Meeting.
Recipients of the CSL Distinguished Leadership Awards create a learning community of outstanding principals throughout Alberta who can share professionally, interact collegially and act as mentors to new colleagues. They provide avenues for research and sharing of best practices. The cadre of distinguished Alberta school leaders are true role models for others looking to challenge the status quo, improve learning in their contexts, and be equipped for higher levels of leadership.
The Council for School Leadership Distinguished Leadership Award program annually recognizes outstanding principals, assistant principals, and school jurisdiction leaders who have succeeded in providing high quality learning opportunities for students. The awards:
* recognize outstanding Alberta school leaders
* honour creative, innovative and effective leadership
* focus public attention on excellence in school leadership and celebrate leadership excellence.
The program honors school leaders who have demonstrated excellence in the areas addressed by the selection criteria which reflect the Leadership Quality Standard Competencies as outlined in the Alberta Leadership Quality Standard.
