New Assistant Superintendent

Immediate Release: December 5, 2023 - Grande Yellowhead Public School Division (GYPSD) is pleased to announce that Mr. Joey Bouchard has accepted the position of Assistant Superintendent - Division Services and Supports, and will be joining the Division on December 8, 2023.

Joey brings a wealth of experience in teaching and administration, particularly in K-12 schools with a focus on the French Immersion program. Recently, Joey held the position of CEO/ Superintendent at New Humble Community School, a Charter School.

From 2018 to 2020, Joey worked with the Government of Alberta in the Ministry of Education as a Curriculum Consultant in Wellness Education (French). With over seven years of post-secondary instructor experience across various institutions, including universities and colleges, Joey holds a Master of Education degree (M.Ed.), a Bachelor of Education degree (B.Ed.), and a Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) in physical education and French. He is certified in High Performance 1 and the National Coaches Certification Program, maintaining an active membership in the Canadian Sport
Psychology Association and achieving the distinction of being a Chartered Professional Coach through the Coaching Association of Canada. With an extensive background in sport management, particularly in hockey, Joey has coached and managed at the Junior, Major Junior, College and University Levels.
Joey eagerly looks forward to embarking on his new role and joining the team at GYPSD. Outside of work, he finds joy in spending time with his wife and three daughters, engaging in physical activities, and participating in outdoor pursuits.
