GNS: School Leaders and SCIPs
Posted on:GYPSD's principals, assistant principals, and aspiring leaders regularly connect throughout the school year to share their school data, improvement targets, and planned approaches. Through discussion with colleagues, collaboration with their staff, and critical feedback from teachers, students, and parents, our school leaders are always reflecting, analyzing student success, and implementing research-informed instructional approaches to improve student learning.
This year, after leading teachers through last year's results, school principals identified site-specific goals and are creating 90-day action cycles to strategically tackle constraints or obstacles to their 100% vision of success for the students in their building.
At the end of November, the principals got together to share their improvement plan for this school year with their peers, inviting questions, insights, and suggestions for edits before posting their School Continuous Improvement Plan to the school website. As the year unfolds, principals will review each 90-
day action cycle and adjust the next cycle as needed.
Meanwhile, the Division's assistant principals and aspiring leaders attended the first of a three-session Alberta Teachers' Association workshop on Teacher Growth, Supervision, and Evaluation. The participants reviewed and deepened their understanding of the critical role school leaders play in ensuring optimal
learning for students.
