GNS: Unique Learning at Niton Central
Posted on:The staff at Niton Central School is always coming up with innovative projects and initiatives to keep students engaged in their learning!
Students in the Grade 8/9 class have been planning different P.E. activities to help the younger grades learn various sports. They have planned soccer stations and basketball stations for
the K/1 class and obstacle courses for the Grade 2/3 class a few times. The Grade 8 and 9 students have taken on a great leadership role in the school and have put in a lot of effort to plan activities that are well suited for the younger students. Niton's younger students have loved being taught by the junior highs. It has been an excellent way to bring different grades in the school together.
On Friday, March 14, 2024, the school recognized Pi Day which is an annual celebration of the mathematical constant π (pi): 3.14. Students in junior high have been using Pi in math classes and
found different facts about Pi. They also had a contest to see who could memorize the most digits of Pi; the winner had 67 digits memorized! In celebration, teachers volunteered to be 'pi' ed' in the face if students brought $2 or a food bank item for donation. Altogether, the creative event raised over $250 to donate, plus a large box of food items. Way to go!
