Delaney Ueland, the Wellness Navigator supporting Ecole Pine Grove Middle School (PGMS) and Parkland Composite High School (PCHS), has spear-headed the work to bring in the Counsellor in the Classroom (CITC) program by the Kids' Help Phone organization. The CITC program promotes the discussion of mental health and well-being targeted to students in Grades 4 through 12.
Under Delaney's guidance, several classes at both PGMS and PCHS are being led through a series of age-appropriate classroom activities to learn more about good mental health, Kids Help Phone’s services and how / where to seek support when needed. Before the program wraps up in early June, each class will have the opportunity to have a direct conversation with one of the Kids Help Phone counsellors as well.
Kids Help Phone has an excellent mental health website with over 400 resources including videos, games, and tools to help youth learn more about their well-being.
