GNS Birdies, Eagles, and Bogeys - Oh My!

Posted on:

With the start of a new school year, so began a new round of athletic teams and activities in all division schools. Out on the greens, junior and senior student golfers are enjoying the last few weeks of great fall weather as they prepare for local and provincial tournaments. Five Grand Trunk High golfers recently competed in a zone tournament in Edson with great success. The men’s team came in third place, and two individuals qualified for the provincial championships in Grande Prairie on September 23rd and 24th: Kasey Volk for the men’s, and Cassidy Hicks for the women’s. Parkland Composite High School’s golf team travelled to zones in Slave Lake on September 16th. Proud Pacer Tyson Hallock finished in a tie for first place and thus also qualified for the golf provincials. All the students golfed well and Kasey from GTHS got the best score in his foursome. Congrats to all our GYPSD golfers on making provincials this year!

Students don’t have to be on a team to learn golf lingo on the fairway. You may find physical education students practicing their putting and hitting skills at their local golf club such as students in Harry Collinge High’s PE20/30 class did last month in Hinton.
