GNS Exploring the Sound of Music
Posted on:At GYPSD, we are proud to offer a number of options for our students in both our elementary and high schools to expand their learning skills and development. Perhaps one of the most creative and beneficial option is the music education program.
Music positively impacts a child’s academic performance, assists in developing social skills, and provides an outlet for creativity that is crucial to a child’s development. It is a great vehicle to develop excellent memory skills as well as improve language foundation. Music education requires teamwork and collaboration. While playing instruments together, students develop listening skills. Students quickly learn to value the skills and ideas of others and how to efficiently combine those
strengths to complete the task at hand. Music education also promotes improved coordination, specifically hand-eye coordination.
Another valuable benefit of a music program is that it can be a source of stress relief as many students look forward to participating - directly impacting student engagement and enjoyment in school.
Whether you are a young musician at Mary Bergeron Elementary getting energized through dance and learning new rhythm patterns, or learning a new instrument to participate in the Rock Band Program at Harry Collinge or Grand Trunk High Schools, GYPSD has something creative planned
for your child to get excited about.
