GNS 241007 Cyber Security Month
Posted on:Cyber Security Awareness Month (Cyber Month) is an internationally recognized campaign held each October to help the public learn more about the importance of cyber security. The campaign helps Canadians stay secure online by teaching them simple steps to protect themselves and their devices. The theme for #CyberMonth2024 is Generation Cyber Safe: Because online security knows no age. Online security affects all Canadians, regardless of when they were born — that’s why every generation is part of Generation Cyber Safe. #GetCyberSafe

While the Division continues to invest in new security technologies and improvements to critical tools, everyone plays a crucial role in preventing cybersecurity incidents. GYPSD staff take part in cybersecurity training to mitigate risks and stay current with digital best practices. The best way to defend against cyber crime is through awareness.
This fall, the Division also amended administrative procedure, AP145 Use of Personal Mobile Devices, and AP 146, Responsible Use of Social Media, as part of our continued commitment in protecting our staff and students while using tech devices in schools.
