GNS: Assurance Review
Posted on:Every spring, GYPSD students, staff, and parents are invited to share their pride and support for their school's work to provide an excellent education and learning environment. The Alberta Education Assurance Measures Survey comes out each year to give school and division leaders the feedback they need to keep doing what is working and information for where focus and resources need to flow. The Assurance Measures Survey Results also highlight the outstanding successes of our students in the provincial exams written in June: the Provincial Achievement Exams (PATS) are written by all grade 6 and 9 students in English Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Math, and the FRIM equivalents. And for the Grade 12s - the Diploma Exams in English, Social, Math, Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and the FRIM equivalents. Students may write some of these Diploma exams in January or June depending on their semester schedule.
The Assurance Results for Keylon Hopkins-Arnold, a grade 7 student at Crescent Valley School in Hinton, provided something for celebration for his family and his teachers. Keylon had a goal to do well on his Math PAT last June and he did... achieving 100% on both Part A and B of the Grade 6 Mathematics exam! CVS Principal Ryan Maguhn and his staff reviewed last year's assurance survey results in conjunction with local measure data to inform this school year's improvement focus- which the staff have chunked into 90-day action cycles.
Across GYPSD, every school's continuous improvement plan and 90-day action cycles provide staff, students, and parents as partners in education, clarity of purpose and build in reflection for adaptation to ensure the focus and efforts are making the intended impact for student success. Look for your school's SCIP and 90-day action cycle on the school website December 1st!
