GNS Hinton Schools Wrap Up Year in Community
Posted on:Elementary schools in Hinton wrapped up the calendar year by participating in various activities focused on the power of collaboration and community engagement.
Grade 5 students at École Mountain View exchanged letters with a class in Quebec. These letters had quite an adventure getting to Hinton without postal service! A pilot flew them from Quebec to Alberta then arranged for a charter ride to Hinton. Letters from Mme. Bonnafé's (Caro Lan) Grade 6 class landed in our Hinton students’ hands last month, and their pen pals in Quebec are eagerly looking forward to receiving their letters in the new year.
At Crescent Valley School, the school community came together with a yummy turkey lunch for everyone! Many community volunteers were on hand to make this lunch possible including our own Hinton Trustee, Ms. Shirley Caputo, school staff, Dave and Linda Kardash, school council representatives, and people from local organizations and businesses such as Hinton Re/Max 2000 Realty, Hinton RCMP, and the Hinton Friendship Centre Society. The school also sent out a shout out to their School Council and West Fraser for the additional donations to make their event possible.
