GNS Bringing Home the Bling

Ecole Mountain View music teacher, Jessica Smeall, is a familiar and welcome face around the school and in the community of Hinton, as well as throughout the Division as the president of ATA Evergreen Local 11 for the last several years.
But along with her performance skills in the classroom, she has a hidden talent that we are proud to share! Jessica is an owner and coach with Folding Mountain Taekwondo Academy in Hinton, and recently medaled in the martial art in both Canadian and International competitions!
Taekwondo is a Korean martial art that translates to 'the art of the hand and foot'. Although there are many parts to this sport, she passionately competes in something called sport poomsae. This competition stream works with set patterns, or forms, that are performed and judged on the spot.
She represents Team Alberta on the national stage and proudly wears Team Canada at the international level.
In February, Jessica attended the Canadian National Taekwondo Championships in Montreal for Team Alberta and brought home a bronze medal in the sport poomsae in her division. The following week, she travelled to Reno, Nevada, for the US Open (international tournament) proudly wearing CANADA and was part of the team event that brought home a silver medal.
Congratulations Jessica!
