GNS HCHS Hosts Transition to Adulthood Info Session

Harry Collinge High School (HCHS) in Hinton hosted an informative evening session on Transitioning to Adulthood on March 19, 2025.

Holly LeFrancois from HANDS - Hinton Abilities Network and Development Society - worked with the high school’s Learning Support Teacher, Ms. Benson, to organize the evening that included a number of organizations who presented on a variety of topics including Janelle Viney, Professional Financial Planner, RBC Senior Investment and Retirement Planner who discussed RDSPs. Others spoke about the range of resources and programs available:

  • Caryn Bouchard, Manager of Hinton Family and Community Support Services
  • Mallory Zaharko, Program Supervisor for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders & Parent and Child Assistance Program and Kylie Nein, Disability Employment Advisor with Hinton Employment and Learning Place
  • Anaik Maeseele, with Persons with Developmental Disabilities, Gov’t of AB, Seniors, Community & Social Services
  • Carmen Siewitz, with Assure Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH), Gov’t of AB, Seniors, Community & Social Services
  • Sheri Brown-Kreshewski, Director of SCOPE (Supporting Choices of People Edson Association), and
  • Landon Penner, with McMan Youth, Family and Community Services Association, Edson

A similar session was held at Parkland Composite High in Edson last year.
