GNS With Many Thanks

Posted on:

GYPSD sincerely appreciates the many businesses and community organizations who go the ‘extra’ for our students in so many different ways.

Local RCMP and the Rotary Club of Edson coordinated their second annual "Cram the Cruiser" event on September 3rd where the Edson community were extraordinarily generous in providing groceries to cram a police cruiser (a few times!) for local elementary schools in Edson. Both Mary Bergeron Elementary and and Ecole Westhaven School received over $1,000 in grocery gift cards along with over 800 lbs of non-perishable groceries for each school for their breakfast/snack programs.

Grande Cache Community High School’s ELITE trades program has a few community sponsors owed a shout out. LJ Welding & Machine Automation from Edmonton donated the steel and shipped it all the way to Grande Cache free of charge just to support their trades program. Local community member Todd Jenkins from TDN Jenkins was on-hand to offload the steel at the school when the heavy load arrived.

Students at Grand Trunk High School in Evansburg were very grateful for the local support from their community in providing fresh food donations for their foods program this year.

PGMS and PCHS' Welcome Back BBQ on Friday was a wonderful success due to the contributions of Cenovus, who provided the BBQ along with the cooking talents of Lyle Fossheim, David Ritchie, Lee Ferris, and Blaine Watts. Bluewave Energy Edson donated the propane, and Edson Independent donated buns and delivery.

Just a few examples of the generosity of our community partners in education!
