In keeping with our commitment to open communications with our school community, Grande Yellowhead Public School Division (the “Division”) was recently advised of allegations of a sensitive nature involving a teacher at École Pine Grove Middle School in Edson (the “School”). Upon becoming aware of the allegations that caused concern about student safety, the Division immediately placed the staff member on leave and as of November 25, 2022, he is no longer at the School. The Division then launched an internal review and investigation, working in collaboration with local authorities. As per the RCMP Media Release dated today, Mr. Brian Davison is now currently facing charges.

While the Division is precluded from providing any details regarding the allegations as the matter
is now before the courts, it is the Division’s intention to assist in any way possible with the RCMP
investigation to ensure that this matter is properly investigated and that the correct result is obtained.
The Division is committed to ensuring that all necessary steps are taken to resolve this matter. In
respect of the current investigation, the Division will not be releasing any further information at
this time.

The Division’s actions and decisions continue to be firmly guided by:

• our commitments to the safety of all students and staff at the School Division;
• our responsibilities under the Education Act and all other applicable legislation;
• the requirements of the Teaching Profession Act and the Alberta Teachers’ Association Code
  of Professional Conduct as they relate to the School Division’s teachers;
• the policies and administrative procedures in place governing the School Division; and
• respect for due process, privacy and the rights of all involved parties.
