On October 11, 2019, Learning Services hosted support staff from across the Division for a day of professional development in Hinton and Edson. Workshops and presentations included one from Adrian Xavier, Everactive, who engaged staff in wellness activities such as the Social-Emotional Shuffle and Self-Care Scattergories. Mary Andreasson, the Division's Teacher Consultant Indigenous Relations, shared the importance of reconciliation through language and a review of resources available. Other GYPSD educators helped out including Barb Madsen, Teacher Consultant for Literacy, and Amelia Bird, Educational Technology Teacher Consultant, who provided some hands-on learning using Chromebooks, and teaching support staff how to use Read, Write Google as a successful literacy support for students at all levels.
